Back-to-School Health Fair Planned

ELKHART — The Tolson Center and Minority Health Coalition of Elkhart County are teaming up on a free health fair Saturday, Aug. 3.

The goal of the health fair is to reach medically underserved populations of all ages, officials with both organizations said.

“This collaborative effort aims to provide free screenings, preventive maintenance education, and counseling services to individuals who lack access to health care due to geographical and economic restrictions,” a release about the event said. “Our goal is to promote healthier and active lifestyles by offering vital information and services to those in attendance.”

The theme of the health fair is “Promoting Healthier & Active Lifestyles,” which officials say will emphasize the importance of proactive health management and wellness.

The fair will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Tolson Center for Community Excellence, 1320 Benham Ave.

“We are dedicated to making a positive impact on the health and well-being of our community members,” Tolson Center Executive Director Breanna Allen said.

Free backpacks will also be given away during the free health fair.

“Our Health Fair and Back 2 School event provides a platform for individuals to access essential health care services and information that can make a meaningful difference in their lives,” said Tara Morris, executive director at Minority Health Coalition Elkhart County Inc.
